Zazenkai
Zazenkai are occasions of coming together for Zen practice for a longer time, a morning or afternoon to dedicate ourselves to our practice. There are usually 3 or 4 - 25 minute sittings, with walking meditation and breaks.
Zazenkai also includes a Zen service. This too is an opportunity to learn more about the dharma and have a time of reverence. We chant the Repentance and Refuges verses, the Heart Sutra or another, ending with the dedication of merit. Written materials will be provided.
After the Service, the day is ending. We usually sit and gather for a discussion of the Dharma and our practice.
Newcomers are absolutely welcome.
At the end of the discussion, we may have a light potluck, and a little time for chatting and friendship before restoring the zendo.
Dana or generosity from attendees is appreciated. Your modest support provides recognition for the teacher's experience, organization and supplies, such as Zoom and the website BellevueDharma.com. Your contributions also support the teachers of the Silent Thunder Order.
