Hello Friends

Zen Koans for the Unenlightened: Conversations with Taiun Elliston Roshi, is now on Amazon! Our conversations focus on 15 cases of the Book of Serenity, a rich collection of koans or stories, favored by Soto Zen. Elliston Roshi is the Abbot of the Atlanta Soto Zen Center, founded in the mid-70s. Bill is a Zen priest (novice) in the Soto Zen tradition, living in Bellevue, WA.

Although ancient, the situations and stories of our Zen Ancestors come alive in this book. The setting may be near a well, a field, or two old students on the Path. But the point of each story is urgent: Where have you come from? Do you often think of it?" Or, the abbot holding a cat says to the disciples, "If you can say a word,I won't kill the cat." What hapens next? And why? What can we say?

These koans are discussed and pondered with beginner's mind, never quite solved, always room for something more. The tone of Zen Koans for the Unenlightened is contemporary and casual, as we search for understanding of the Dharma. We invite you to explore with us.
